My thoughts on the last class session (6/28)

Today’s class helped me to more critically reflect on the protestant faith as I was someone raised in this tradition. Over the past couple days I’ve learned how the Eucharist is absolutely integral during worship (at least in the Orthodox and Catholic traditions). Growing up in the Protestant faith, communion was usually just done once a month. We also just sat in our seats while the deacons came around handing out the elements. Or, we would sometimes come up to the front to receive the elements and then go back to our seats to consume them. Moreover, it appears that in comparison to other traditions, the Protestant tradition doesn’t revere the Eucharist as highly. I still know that it’s an important practice, especially remembering together with a community about what Jesus did for us. Still, I wonder, could there be more reverence towards the communion? Perhaps by observing it every worship service?
