My thoughts on the last class session

Theology of Church:

-Reformed, Presbyterian tradition

-mission statement: to be a Christ-centered, biblical, and loving church that makes disciples and strengthens families to impact their communities for God’s glory

Worship:

-Contemporary worship (singing traditional hymnals as well)

-reading of scripture while standing

-consider offering as a part of worship

-one worship leader and other instrumentalists leads congregation into worship (rock band)

-liturgy: Declares the Apostle’s Creed every Sunday

-we have communion the first Sunday of each month

Community Formation:

retreats, prayer retreats, basketball, potlucks, house meetings

Organization/leadership: 

-Group of deacons and senior pastor

-deacons are men

Mission:

-support missionaries financially

-inviting missionaries to lead congregation into dialogue

-supporting communities in other countries

Snapshot of the Church:

-Asian-American church, mostly made up of Korean Americans. 

-This church was once the from a Korean Presbyterian congregation

-dress code: casual; pastor however dresses a bit nicer
